Brookman/ Flanagin House

On August 28, 2023, the Brookman/ Flanagin house located at 404 Cottage Street in Vermillion, South Dakota was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is an example of a Spindle work subtype of Queen Anne architecture.

St. Edwin and Anna Brookman constructed the house in 1894. Since then, the Brookman family occupied it for 78 years. After one year of occupancy, Jon and Judy Flanagin restored the house and lived in it for fifty years. On November 15, 2023, for their preservation the Flanagin family received a Preservation Award from the Clay County Historic Preservation Commission.
